Sandra F. Parks was born September 16, 1934 near Corning, Iowa. She graduated high school in Cleghorn, Iowa in 1952. She moved to Mankato in 1966 when her husband, Richard Mitchell, became a faculty member at Mankato State University. She completed three degrees from Mankato State College: an elementary education undergraduate degree, a master’s degree through the College of Education with an emphasis on library, and a specialist degree also through the College of Education. Parks began working in the Mankato State College library in 1974 and retired June 1996. She married Richard Mitchell in 1954 and they have two children. Their daughter, Kathryn Woyda, attended Wilson Campus School and Mankato State University. Parks married James Parks in 2002.
