The Willetta M. (Pinkie) Brown collection consists of an audiocassette, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and a transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Brown and Shirleen K. Sylvester during the spring of 1990. Brown worked as a physical education teacher from 1945 to 1985. During her career, she taught in the Pipestone Public Schools and at Alexander Ramsey High School in Roseville, Minnesota. In the interview, Brown discussed the areas of change and continuity that have occurred within education during her career. She focused on changing social, educational, and political forces along with the impact of professional organizations, colleagues, and the expectations of parents and students upon the physical education teacher.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
