The Emmanuel Asamoa collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Asamoa and Zeara Alvarez in November 2010. Asamoa has been attending Minnesota State University, Mankato since 2007. In this interview, Asamoa talks about his experiences as a student athlete, his involvement in the extracurricular activities and his first experiences coming to Minnesota State University, Mankato.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Emmanuel Asamoa was born and raised in Ghana, East Africa. He came to the United States when he was eleven, and he attended and graduated high school in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has been on the Dean's list and participated in organizations such as the African Student Association (ASA), research teams for his major, Biochemistry, and he also volunteers at the local YMCA as a mentor. He also has held different jobs while in school. His career plans after graduating with his Bachelor's in Biochemistry and to continue on to graduate school.

The Thuy N. Huynh collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, pamphlet and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Huynh and Zeara Alvarez in November 2010. Huynh has attended Minnesota State University, Mankato since 2007-2011. In this interview, Huynh talks about her experiences as a student academically and socially.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Thuy Ngoc Huynh was born in Vietnam and moved to California, where she was raised, when she was a child. She has been involved with many organizations on campus such as the Vietnamese American Student Association (VASA) where she was the secretary/activity coordinator, the Chicano Latino American Student Association (CLASA) where she danced, as well as other organizations. She has also held several jobs while in school, which she discusses during the interview. On the date of the interview she worked in the Admissions office as a student worker. She hopes to attain employment at Minnesota State University, Mankato when she graduates.

The Marcius Brock collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Brock and Zeara Alvarez in November 2010. Brock has been is employed by Minnesota State University, Mankato since 2005. In this interview, Brock talks about his cultural transition from Detroit, MI to Mankato, Minnesota. He describes his experiences as an employee at MSU, and how culture has shifted since he began working there in 2005.

Marcius R. Brock was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Michigan as well. Before he went to Minnesota State University, Mankato he worked at the University of Michigan for seven years. He moved his wife and his children to St. Peter when he accepted the job at MSU. Marcius R. Brock is the Registrar at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He began work in June of 2005. He assists in approving the schedule for all classes before students get to see them while helping students with day-to-day issues regarding graduation, credit transfers and evaluations.

The Lisa Ahlness collection consists of a biographical form and an audio CD and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Ahlness and Salumeh Javid in October 2007. Ahlness attended Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2003-2008. In this interview, Ahlness talks about why she chose to attend Minnesota State Mankato, her college experiences, what a normal school week looked like, the hardest things about attending college, and her plans after graduation.

Lisa Ahlness was born July 13, 1985 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ahlness graduated from Bridgefield High School in 2003 and attended Minnesota State University, Mankato where she was a member of the speech communication club. Ahlness graduated May 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree from the Department of Speech Communication. She majored in speech communication and minored in interdisciplinary communication.

The Salumeh Javid collection consists of a biographical form and an audio CD and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Javid and Lisa Ahlness in October 2007. Javid attended Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2006-2008. In this interview, Javid talks about his reasons for coming to the United States, why he transferred to Minnesota State Mankato, his college experiences, and favorite faculty members.

Salumeh Javid was born April 5, 1976 in Iran. He attended and graduated high school at the Bahai Institution for Higher Education in Iran and then moved to the United States to pursue a college degree. Javid attended Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota from 2003 to 2006 and then transferred to Minnesota State Mankato. Javid majored in music and minored in speech communication. He graduated Cum Laude (with honor) in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.

This collection consists of the transcript, an audiocassette tape, and 1 CD duplicate of the audiocassette tape of an oral history interview with Harvey Lincoln Anderson, conducted in 1977. Anderson was the owner of Ski Haven, which later became Mount Kato. During the interview, Anderson talked about activities, businesses, and industries, in the Mankato area from his childhood until about 1940. He discussed specific activities like canoeing, downhill skiing, and ski jumping. Also, Anderson talked about his role in the construction of the Rapidan Dam.
Harvey Lincoln Andersen was born in Mankato, Minnesota in September 1893. He married Pauline Elizabeth Heggerness in 1927. They had two children together. The Andersens founded a ski area named Ski Haven during the winter of 1937. They operated the property for nearly forty years, until it was sold and renamed Mount Kato. Harvey Andersen died in February 1988.

The Wallace Arthur Alcorn collection contains an audiocassette tape, CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Alcorn and James Davlantes during the fall of 1989. During Alcorn’s career, he worked as a teacher, pastor, author, private counselor, and active U.S. Army Chaplain. In the interview, Alcorn discussed his experiences as an educator. He noted the change in the attitudes of students concerning teachers’ knowledge, authority, and roles in various communities. Furthermore, he touched on the increased expectations of teachers and the increased social responsibilities of schools.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.

The Hal E. Hagen collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Hagen and Briseis, Lih-Ping Feng during the fall of 1989. Hagen, an Emeritus professor of curriculum and instruction at Mankato State University, worked as an educator a various levels between 1950 and 1989. In the interview, Hagen discussed the areas of change and continuity during his career. He focused on educational philosophy and national and community expectations.
This oral history interview was conducted as a requirement for the graduate level Educational Foundations course entitled History of Education in American Culture at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.

This collection consisting of an Oral history interview (audiofile and transcript) relating to Ione Louk, of Mankato, Minnesota. Included in this collection are an outline done by Mrs. Louk, which discusses the 1933 Hormel Company strike. The other component of the collection is an oral history interview conducted with Ione in 1977. In it, she discusses her background and what led her to Mankato State University, where she became the first student to graduate with a minor in Women's Studies.
Ione Louk was born in September 1912, in Greenfield, Iowa. She married Harry E. Louk in 1935. They had six children together. When Harry Louk retired from the Hormel Company in Austin, Minnesota, they moved to Mankato. Ione Louk was the first student to graduate with a minor in Women's Studies at Mankato State University, in 1976. Ione Louk died in April 1984.
