The Jamie Dalbey collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Dalbey and Zeara Alvarez in April 2011. Dalbey attended Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2009-2012. In this interview, Dalbey talks about attending Minnesota State University, Mankato as a transfer student, friends, and what she does outside school.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Jamie Dalbey was born November 6, 1989 in Roseville, Minnesota. Before she started school, her family moved to Mora, Minnesota, where she graduated from high school in 2008. Dalbey attended the University of Minnesota, Morris for her freshman year of college, but transferred to Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2009. Her major is Psychology with a minor in Anthropology.

David Engen was born June 4, 1968, in Fridley, Minnesota. Engen graduated from high school and then attended Anoka-Ramsey Community College. He then attended Mankato State University from 1988 to 1990 where he majored in speech communication and business administration and was a member of the forensics team. After graduation, Engen entered the workforce for a short while and then attended Auburn University and received a master’s degree in 1992. Engen finished his education at Bowling Green State University where he received his doctorate degree in 1995. Engen has taught at Minnesota State University, Mankato since 2002. In this interview, Engen talks about his decisions to attend college and graduate school, his experiences as a student and as a faculty member at Minnesota State Mankato, and faculty members that stand out.

Bryan Schmid was born on October 16, 1988 in Fresno, California. He then moved to Menasha, Wisconsin where he attended Menasha High School and played football and graduated in 2007. He then decided to come MSU and play football where he was a defensive end and earn playing time in all 4 years at MSU. Bryan Schmid has been coaching the defensive line at MSU since 2010. Coach Schmid is married and now lives in Mankato with his family. Coach Schmid earned his bachelor’s degree from Minnesota State in Sport Management in 2010 and completed his master’s degree in Sport Management in 2013. During the interview he tried to provide a good overview of what MSU Football was all about and what the team’s daily life is like. He was able to give a very detailed description of how the football team works.
