The Marcius Brock collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Brock and Zeara Alvarez in November 2010. Marcius R. Brock was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Michigan as well. Before he went to Minnesota State University, Mankato he worked at the University of Michigan for seven years. He moved his wife and his children to St. Peter when he accepted the job at MSU. Marcius R. Brock is the Registrar at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He began work in June of 2005. He assists in approving the schedule for all classes before students get to see them while helping students with day-to-day issues regarding graduation, credit transfers and evaluations.

Thuy Ngoc Huynh was born in Vietnam and moved to California, where she was raised, when she was a child. She has been involved with many organizations on campus such as the Vietnamese American Student Association (VASA) where she was the secretary/activity coordinator, the Chicano Latino American Student Association (CLASA) where she danced, as well as other organizations. She has also held several jobs while in school, which she discusses during the interview. On the date of the interview she worked in the Admissions office as a student worker. She hopes to attain employment at Minnesota State University, Mankato when she graduates.

Salumeh Javid was born April 5, 1976 in Iran. He attended and graduated high school at the Bahai Institution for Higher Education in Iran and then moved to the United States to pursue a college degree. Javid attended Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota from 2003 to 2006 and then transferred to Minnesota State Mankato. Javid majored in music and minored in speech communication. He graduated Cum Laude (with honor) in May 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music.

He also has held different jobs while in school. His career plans after graduating with his Bachelor's in Biochemistry and to continue on to graduate school.

The Gladys Burnette Olson collection consists of an audiocassette tape, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Olson and Uchenna Okafor during the fall of 1989. Olson spent her career working as a high school teacher, journalist, and college professor at Mankato State College in Mankato, Minnesota. The Wallace Arthur Alcorn collection contains an audiocassette tape, CD duplicate of the audiocassette, and transcript of an oral history interview conducted between Alcorn and James Davlantes during the fall of 1989. During Alcorn’s career, he worked as a teacher, pastor, author, private counselor, and active U.S. Army Chaplain. In the interview, Alcorn discussed his experiences as an educator. He noted the change in the attitudes of students concerning teachers’ knowledge, authority, and roles in various communities. Furthermore, he touched on the increased expectations of teachers and the increased social responsibilities of schools.

This collection consists of the transcript, an audiocassette tape, and 1 CD duplicate of the audiocassette tape of an oral history interview with Harvey Lincoln Anderson, conducted in 1977. Anderson was the owner of Ski Haven, which later became Mount Kato. During the interview, Anderson talked about activities, businesses, and industries, in the Mankato area from his childhood until about 1940. He discussed specific activities like canoeing, downhill skiing, and ski jumping. Also, Anderson talked about his role in the construction of the Rapidan Dam.
Harvey Lincoln Andersen was born in Mankato, Minnesota in September 1893. He married Pauline Elizabeth Heggerness in 1927. They had two children together. The Andersens founded a ski area named Ski Haven during the winter of 1937. They operated the property for nearly forty years, until it was sold and renamed Mount Kato. Harvey Andersen died in February 1988.

This collection consisting of n Oral history interview (audiofile and transcript) relating to Ione Louk, of Mankato, Minnesota. Included in this collection are an outline done by Mrs. Louk, which discusses the 1933 Hormel Company strike. The other component of the collection is an oral history interview conducted with Ione in 1977. In it, she discusses her background and what led her to Mankato State University, where she became the first student to graduate with a minor in Women's Studies.
Ione Louk was born in September 1912, in Greenfield, Iowa. She married Harry E. Louk in 1935. They had six children together. When Harry Louk retired from the Hormel Company in Austin, Minnesota, they moved to Mankato. Ione Louk was the first student to graduate with a minor in Women's Studies at Mankato State University, in 1976. Ione Louk died in April 1984.

The Travis D. Laster collection consists of an audio recording, biographical form, and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Laster and Zeara Alvarez in October 2010. Laster attended Minnesota State University, Mankato from 2008-2010. In this interview, Laster talks about his experience as a veteran coming in to MSU, his reasons for his decision to attend college as a college athlete, as well as his overall experiences as a student at MSU.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Travis was born and raised in Miami, Florida. The latter part of his high school years he lived in Griffin, Georgia. He served as a Marine before he went to college; however, he had plans to attend college before entering into the Marine Corp. Although he did not anticipate having to go to war, he ended up fighting in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. He began his college career at a community college while he was stationed in San Diego, California. He then transferred to Mt. San Antonio College to play football and earn his Associates Degree. Following Mt. San Antonio College he was recruited to play football for Southwest Minnesota State University where he stayed for a year, then transferred to play football and run Track & Field at Minnesota State University, Mankato. It was at Minnesota State University, Mankato he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies and continued his education at a graduate level, also in Communication Studies. At the time of this interview he was training to possibly play professional football, which is his first choice in careers. His second choice is to use his degrees to pursue something in the field of news/media.

The Mary I. Huntley collection consists of two audiocassette tapes, a CD duplicate of the audiocassette, a transcript, and a biographical form and interview outline of an oral history interview conducted between Huntley and Marsha Danielson in January 2007. In this interview, Huntley talks about her family, her experience as a child of Mankato State Teachers College employees, her experience as a student at Mankato State College, and her experience as a faculty member at Minnesota State University. Kennes Huntley is an additional narrator in this oral history.
This oral history interview was conducted as part of the Tell Your MSU Story Oral History Project conducted by the Southern Minnesota Historical Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Mary Ione Hesla was born May 13, 1940 in Mountain Lake, Minnesota. She graduated from Mankato High School and attended Mankato State Teachers College where both her parents were employed. She graduated with a nursing degree in 1962 and married Kennes Huntley that year. They moved to Duluth where Huntley worked as a registered nurse at Miller Hospital. They then moved to Iowa to attend graduate school at the University of Iowa at Iowa City where Huntley graduated with a degree in psychiatric mental health nursing in 1967. She became a part-time employee at Minnesota State College in 1968 and a faculty member in 1970. Huntley took a sabbatical to study for her PhD at Texas Womens University from 1986-1988. Her two children are both Mankato State University alumni.

This collection consists of a folder, an audiocassette tape, and a CD duplicate of the audiocassette tape of an oral history interview conducted with Emma Wiecking in 1977. Wiecking graduated from the State Normal School at Mankato, and was a longtime librarian at the Mankato State Teachers College. In the interview, Wiecking discussed her youth in Mankato, her experiences as a student at the Normal School, personalities who have attended or worked on the faculty of Mankato State Teachers College, and her memories of life in Mankato.
Emma Wiecking was born in Mankato in August 1894. She attended the State Normal School at Mankato, the University of Minnesota, and the Library School of the New York Public Library, and would later receive her master's degree from Columbia University. She worked in the library at Mankato State Teachers College for 37 years, retiring in 1959. Emma Wiecking died in April 1992.
