Description: This collection consisting of an Oral history interview (audiofile and transcript) relating to Ione Louk, of Mankato, Minnesota. Included in this collection are an outline done by Mrs. Louk, which discusses the 1933 Hormel Company strike. The other component of the collection is an oral history interview conducted with Ione in 1977. In it, she discusses her background and what led her to Mankato State University, where she became the first student to graduate with a minor in Women's Studies. Ione Louk was born in September 1912, in Greenfield, Iowa. She married Harry E. Louk in 1935. They had six children together. When Harry Louk retired from the Hormel Company in Austin, Minnesota, they moved to Mankato. Ione Louk was the first student to graduate with a minor in Women's Studies at Mankato State University, in 1976. Ione Louk died in April 1984.
