Brian Johnson was born Dec. 24, 1979, in Mankato, Minnesota. He graduated from Mankato East High School in Mankato, Minnesota in January 1999. He then lived in Minneapolis, Minn. and Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo., where he worked full-time and played in a band. Johnson then attended Minnesota State Mankato where he majored in mass communications with an emphasis in journalism and minored in speech communication. Johnson graduated Summa Cum Laude (with highest honor) December 2007 with a degree from the Department of Communications. In this interview, Johnson talks about why he chose Minnesota State Mankato, where he has worked while attending school, why he chose his major, his favorite professors, being a non-traditional student, being part of College Democrats, campus memories, academic career and program, time as an exchange student, writing for the Reporter, and plans after graduation.
